A substantial renewable-energy proposal.
Project overview
The technical design models a 4.09 MWp solar PV installation using 6,334 modules across approximately 17,109 m², integrated with battery storage and EV charging infrastructure.
The proposal is intended to combine on-site renewable generation, battery storage, direct consumption and export to the grid, supporting the wider EV-led Westfield Farm concept.
Solar Farm + BESS concept — project specificationSolar, battery and EV charging working together.
Solar Farm
The model forecasts approximately 3.82 million kWh of annual solar generation. Around 2.16 million kWh is modelled for direct consumption, approximately 576,000 kWh for battery charging and around 1.05 million kWh for grid export.
Battery Energy Storage — BESS
The design specifies ten Sungrow PowerStack battery systems at approximately 504.6 kWh each, providing around 5.05 MWh of combined storage capacity. Stored solar energy can support demand when instantaneous PV production is lower.
EV charging integration
The simulation includes EV charging demand as part of the wider energy model. This connects the solar and storage proposal directly to the site's EV-led roadside-service strategy.
72.6% own-power consumption and 68.6% self-sufficiency, with approximately 1,432 tonnes of CO₂ emissions avoided annually.

Indicative investment & returns.
Modelled financial case
The report models a total investment of approximately £10.21 million, with a calculated 20.54% IRR and an estimated payback period of approximately 6 years 2 months.
The first-year assumptions include approximately £682,000 of electricity savings and approximately £158,000 of export income. The financial model also includes other revenue/savings associated with the EV charging tariff.
These figures are projections from the supplied technical simulation, not guaranteed financial returns. Actual generation, consumption, tariffs, operating costs and commercial performance may differ.
